Common Faults & Troubleshooting

1. No Output, Charge Light On

• Cause: Defective regulator, failed diodes, open winding, poor connection
• Fix: Test B+ voltage (≥28V at idle); check wiring; replace assembly if internal fault

2. Low Output (<27V)

• Cause: Loose belt, dirty slip rings, weak regulator, partial winding short
• Fix: Adjust belt tension (10–15mm deflection); clean slip rings; replace if output <60A under load

3. Over Voltage (>29V)

• Cause: Defective voltage regulator
• Fix: Replace alternator immediately to avoid battery/electrical damage

4. Noise & Vibration

• Cause: Worn bearings, rotor rub, loose mounting, pulley imbalance
