Installation Location:
Mounted on the front of the engine crankshaft, coaxial with the crankshaft damper/pulley, secured by a center bolt. The outer V-groove fits the accessory drive belt to directly drive the fan, A/C compressor, generator, and other accessories.
Installation & Maintenance
- Clean: Thoroughly remove oil, rust, and debris from the pulley mounting surface, crankshaft front journal, and threaded holes to ensure a clean, dry fit.
- Inspect: Ensure the new pulley is free of cracks, porosity, or deformation; the V-groove is smooth and burr-free; the center bore matches the crankshaft journal precisely. Check mounting bolts for intact threads.
- Install: Align with the crankshaft journal and woodruff key, slide the pulley on evenly, and insert the center mounting bolt without tilting or looseness.
- Torque: Tighten the center bolt in 2–3 crosswise steps to 80–100N·m for full contact with no axial play.
- Re-inspect: Check for pulley wobble or V-groove misalignment. Install the belt, verify proper seating, and run the engine at idle to confirm no noise or belt misalignment.
- Maintenance: Inspect V-groove wear, cracks, and corrosion during service; replace the pulley if damaged. Check bolt torque periodically and clean the surface to prevent belt slippage.
