C2897331 (2897331) is a genuine Cummins pressure sensor (oil pressure sensor), whose core function is to real-time monitor the pressure change in the engine oil pipeline, convert the pressure signal into a standard electrical signal and transmit it to the engine ECU and instrument, accurately feed back the oil pressure status, and also have a pressure early warning function. When the oil pressure is abnormal (too high or too low), it will timely trigger an alarm or limit the engine power, avoiding irreversible damage such as cylinder scuffing and bearing seizure caused by insufficient lubrication. It fits Cummins medium and heavy-duty engines, and works with engine ECU, oil pipeline and instrument wiring harness to ensure the stable operation of the engine lubrication system and extend the service life of the engine.

Installation Location

Installed on the side of the engine cylinder block or the oil filter base, connected to the oil pipeline through a threaded interface. The installation position is close to the oil pump outlet, away from high-temperature exhaust pipes and high-vibration components to ensure that the sensor is not interfered by high temperature and vibration. A gasket must be installed at the interface to prevent oil leakage.

Installation & Maintenance

1. Clean: Thoroughly clean the sensor thread interface and the oil pipeline installation interface from oil, iron chips and sealant residues to ensure the interface is clean and free of impurities, avoiding affecting the seal and pressure detection accuracy.
2. Inspect: The new sensor has no damage or cracks, the thread has no sliding teeth, and the plug is in good contact and free of oxidation; check that the gasket is intact and undamaged, verify that the sensor model matches the engine model, and confirm that the measurement range meets the engine oil pressure standard.
3. Install: Apply a small amount of high-temperature resistant sealant (or install a gasket) on the sensor thread interface, align with the oil pipeline interface and screw in smoothly to avoid thread damage or damage to internal components of the sensor due to excessive force, ensuring the interface is aligned without tilting.
4. Torque: Tighten the sensor thread to 15~22N·m in 2 steps to ensure the interface is tightly sealed without oil leakage; firmly insert the sensor plug to avoid signal interruption due to looseness.
5. Re-inspect: Start the engine and check for no oil leakage at the interface; use a diagnostic instrument to detect the sensor output signal to ensure the signal is stable and free of abnormal fluctuations, and the oil pressure value displayed on the instrument is within the normal range (0.2~0.5MPa).
6. Maintenance: During each engine oil change or maintenance, check the seal condition of the sensor interface and the contact state of the plug; clean the oil and dust on the sensor surface to avoid signal interference; if the oil pressure alarm is triggered, the instrument display is abnormal or the sensor signal is distorted, replace the C2897331 genuine part in time.
